How to use affirmation cards?

And what to expect? How to know if you are doing it properly?

I know there are numerous blogs about how to use them. Or better to say where to keep them. And the best to do is find what works best for you. If you like to have them next to the bed, or makeup table, or on the fridge… it doesn't matter, as long you can see them daily and read them.

But the questions I had in my mind when I started were:” Am I doing it okay? What exactly am I supposed to do?”

I started with just reading them daily. I would just pick up one of them and read it a few times a day. Then I started to notice how I felt after reading. Sometimes I would be:” "Yes, that is me. I am that" but sometimes all I could hear in my head was, "Nope, that's not true. You are not like that." I noticed that I do believe in some of those affirmations, and for some of them, I almost feel like I don’t even deserve to read them let alone believe in them. So, I focused on those.

I would read them more often I would memorise them and I would ask myself questions like:

Why is it wrong to believe in this? Am I thinking correctly? Why I can’t see myself like that? Do I deserve to feel like that? The more questions I asked the closer I was to start believing that I am worthy of those affirmations.

Along the way I learned new things about myself, I would get some new answers and resolve some things that were bothering me for a long time. And I think that is the point of using affirmations. To learn how to love yourself, to find a way to believe in yourself, to give yourself time to heal and to grow.

Today I know exactly which affirmation is the best for me in a specific situation. I know how to deal with my negative thoughts and how to stay calm when self-doubt hits.

Because nothing can stop those thoughts. They will always be here. However, we can learn how to handle them and prevent them from developing into something bigger that affects our emotions.

So, try to read them as much as you can but the most important part is to believe in what you are reading.

Lots of love,

Marija
